According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report, future climate change could irreversibly endanger sustainable development especially in the Mediterranean Basin, where Turkey is also located. Generally speaking, in Turkey, statistical records show a visible increase in average and minimal air temperatures with particular reference to the southern and southeastern regions. The annual mean temperature increase is estimated to be around 2-3°C. Precipitation is expected to decrease along the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts by 30% and to increase along the Black Sea coast by 10-20%. In sum, Turkey is highly vulnerable to desertification with 86.5% of its total land area. As regards climate change’s impact on water resources and agriculture, the decreasing water potential of the Gediz and Büyük Menderes River Basins in the Aegean Region is expected to reach 20% by 2030. In the Mediterranean Region, the increase of CO2 concentration, temperature and water stress in the Seyhan River basin may affect production of major crops like wheat and maize. As for the Black Sea Region, eutrophication, overfishing, and abrupt cooling and warming events can be traced back to the 1980s. Particularly on account of global warming, the migration routes of the fish in Turkey have also witnessed a change. Warming of sea water has led to anchovies finding refuge in the much cooler northern regions of the Black Sea. As anchovies diminish along the Turkish coasts, the main source of fish fodder also disappears. Coastal erosion along Turkish shores may yield about 6% of GNP for capital loss.
In this project the general objectives can be split in two main categories. The capacity building for participants and in the domain of informing, creating awareness and tools for information. The consortium will gather experts from the areas that the project will take place and will make activities to inform the public on the climate change, what individual and societal initiatives can take place in order to reduce the impact. People who were not previously informed about such matters will obtain knowledge and people that are aware and interested on the topic will be enriched with new tools and ideas to spread the information and the methodologies learned. On the other hand, online tools such as open source networking platforms will be created for awareness creation and the creation of a spillover effect of good practices, sustainability of the project’s initiatives and a constant renew of information that will last and after the project’s life span.
According to the UN, global climate change is one of the biggest challenges of our age and its negative effects weaken the ability of all countries to achieve sustainable development. In this regard, it can be said that the survival of the biological support systems of many societies and planets is at risk. Climate change affects all living things on earth today and changes the balance of nature. While the disturbance of the balance of nature refers to the change and transformation of all living elements in it, it also means serious losses in the context of human welfare, ecosystem services and biodiversity. The Aegean Region and İzmir province are located in the Mediterranean (Mediterranean) Phytogeographic Region. In many studies on climate change, the Mediterranean Phytogeographic region is pointed out as one of the areas that will be most affected and damaged by climate change. Besides Turkey is surrounded by sea on three sides of the coast and Izmir’s very important to have a strip of climate change impacts and Turkey makes it even more important both in terms of Izmir. In 2011, published in the National Climate Change Action Plan, the average annual temperature is projected to increase in the coming years in Turkey 2.5°-4°C (in Aegean Region 40C). It is estimated that Turkey’s near future with an uncertain climate. According to TEMA and WWF’s Report on Local Effects of Climate Change (2015), problems such as drought caused by climate change, decrease in agricultural productivity, increase in pressure on water resources, increase in meteorological disasters, shifts in seasons and current seasonal trends may be experienced in the Aegean Region. In addition, sudden and irregular changes in temperature and rainfall regimes due to climate change may cause an increase in forest fires, harmful plant and insect invasions, aridity and salinity in agricultural areas, erosion and soil loss for the Aegean region and İzmir. The decrease in the current situation of water resources will increase the health threats such as infection and epidemic due to the increase in problems such as heat stress, air pollution, floods and floods. Turkey is a country of many studies related to climate change. The Climate Change Adaptation Strategy and Action Plan prepared after becoming a party to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in 2004 are examples of these studies. However, there is a need for studies that will specifically refer to behavior change. The proposed project basically provides individuals with the opportunity to instantly or periodically see and monitor the positive or negative effects of their behavior on climate change by using technology. Thus, it shows individuals that they can change things by changing their behavior. In this respect, there is no doubt that anthroponegic climate change is a reality, and if the temperature continues to rise even if the greenhouse gas emission ceases completely, it is necessary to combat the inevitable consequences of climate change and In order to adapt to this process, it is inevitable to take the necessary steps with a multi-sectoral and multi-regional perspective. Our project is a product of this inevitable process. The overall objective of the FIHI-CCA Project is, to increase social resilience against local effects of climate change and improving adaptation to climate change through raising awareness on the urgency and importance of adapting to climate change and developing appropriate technology. The specific objective of project is to contribute increasing the resilience of İzmir and the protection of natural resources and ecosystem via providing training and research on adaptation to climate change, development and implementation of software related to climate change adaptation index and so on Internalizing adaptation to climate change. In order to achieve these goals of the project, in other words, to ensure that our region and then our country adapt to global climate change, it is necessary to establish an institutionalization, to carry out monitoring and implementation activities, and to produce solutions by defining risks accordingly. Monitoring and implementation involves the development of a “Climate Change Adaptation Index” in order to quantify the effects of ongoing climate change and the state of our social and individual adaptation capacity against these effects. This monitoring will make it easier to question the lifestyle both individually and as a society and to take steps that can change it. Smart phone app will be another tool to be used for this purpose. In this way, individuals will be given behaviors that will contribute to the adaptation of the city to the new climatic conditions and the contributions of individuals to climate adaptation will be measurable.

İklim değişikliği hâlihazırda Avrupa’da ve dünyanın geri kalanında kendini hissettirmeye başlamış durumdadır. Şiddetli hava olayları giderek daha sık veya daha yoğun bir şekilde yaşanmakta, can kaybına sebep olmakta ve ekonomik altyapıya zarar vermektedir.
Okul Planlamasını Desteklemeye Yönelik EEF Kılavuzu: 2020-21’e Kademeli Bir Yaklaşım
Bu kılavuz, okul liderlerini gelecek öngörülemeyen akademik yıl için planlamalarında desteklemeyi amaçlamaktadır. (1) yüksek kaliteli öğretim, (2) hedeflenen akademik destek ve (3) daha geniş stratejilere odaklanan kademeli bir model önerir. Ülkenin dört bir yanından uzman okul liderleri ile ortaklaşa geliştirilmiştir.
Mevcut en iyi kanıtlarla desteklenen öne çıkan yaklaşımların çoğu deneyimli okul liderlerine aşina olacaktır. Bu kılavuz, mevcut liderlik planlarına bir ayna tutabilecek kullanışlı sorular ve son okul vaka çalışmaları sunarak bu tür uzmanlığı tamamlar.

#İKÇÜ sürdürülebilir bir gelişme için yarını bugünden planlamaya dönük çalışmalar kapsamında projeleri hayata geçirmeye devam ediyor. Orman Fakültesinin koordinatörlüğünde İzmir Orman Bölge Müdürlüğü’nce verilen 1.500 fidan, çevre ve yarınlar düşünülerek kampüs alanı içinde boş alanlarda toprakla buluşturuldu.
