THE DISSEMINATION OF SOLAR ENERGY AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY TECHNOLOGIES AT THE LOCAL LEVEL

Objectives of the action: Overall objective(s): To encourage the public to consume more environment and nature friendly energy resources through contributing to and participating in a culture of renewable energy. Specific objective(s): 1. To research for the technological innovations in renewable energies, before all else solar energy, that which are more heavily developed and applied in the EU countries. 2. To raise awareness on energy efficiency and solar energy technologies at the local and in this way to make much easier the transferability and adaptability of such technologies in our country. 3. To contribute to the dissemination, through lobbying activities, of energy efficient and solar energy technologies and methods at the household level.
Target group(s) : A pioneering group of 250 local citizens (including people especially from energy and construction sectors) and householders interested in renewable-solar energy technologies.
Final beneficiaries : Approximately one million inhabitants of Northern İzmir.
Estimated results: 1. There will be a local and civil-society contribution to the formation and dissemination of a new energy culture. 2. More than 250 people will participate in the public seminars and workshops of renewable and solar energy. 3. With awareness-raising and visibility actions including a festival, social media campaigns, and publishing activities the attention of 2500 local people at least will be directed to the significance of energy efficiency, and of sustainable and renewable energy technologies. 4. The public will be encouraged to establish cooperatives in order to benefit from solar energy technologies much more easily and cheaply. 5. Lobbying activities will be performed at the level of local and national public institutions in favour of the best energy policies and forms of legislation which are incentive to the dissemination of solar energy technologies. 6. Various links between different actors from household members to social leaders and different sectors from construction to energy will be soundly established in the area of solar energy technologies.
Main activities: 1. Preparatory activities. 2. Training workshop programme on solar energy technologies provided by the EU partner. 3. Public Seminars and workshops organized by the applicants. 4. Awareness-raising activities concerning solar energy resources and technologies. 5. Lobbying activities for the best renewable solar energy policies and regulations.
